About: Teaching Spanish, French, Mandarin to adults and children either in a classroom environment or on a one-one-one/small groups basis, in the Eastern Ontario region. Established in 2010. ILSEO was established in 2010 as an integral element in the International Languages Programme of Ottawa-based CECCE – the largest French-language school board in Canada ex-Quebec. Through CECCE’s Programme, over 4,500 students now receive language-and-culture instruction in 18 languages. ILSEO was established in recognition of a need to extend language instruction to the more rural communities of Eastern Ontario. To help overcome problems associated with relative remoteness, starting in 2012 ILSEO has begun to offer instruction in Spanish via Skype, reaching directly into students’ homes rather than asking them to travel to attend classes.
